David McDougall, born in 1949 in Merced, California, now resides in Dayton, Wyoming, in the historic house built by renowned artist Hans Kleiber in 1924. He earned his BA from Humboldt State University in 1972 and his MFA from the University of Illinois in 1975. David co-owns Painted Skull Studio in Dayton, Wyoming, with his wife Donna, where they continue to contribute to the local art scene.

I work in primarily acrylic on panels and supplement with colorized line drawings, and have collaborated on some sculptural projects .The work combines bright disparate objects, disturbed interiors, whimsical elements, and satirical circumstances to mine the visual depths of my subconscious imagination producing a visual overload with a wackadelic potpourri of bent perspective and characters from the land of joyous color. My paintings fit loosely like a baggy pair of pants and should state a point of view. Together with the hand crafted wood frames the paintings should work together for a strong visual combination of picture and architecture and imagination.
