2024 Small Works Show artist Pat Trout
Born in New Jersey, at age 8 we moved to Chicago. Attending Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1975. Thirty years of the corporate nomad lifestyle with Mike followed, arriving in Sheridan in 2006. I’m the first member of my family to live in Wyoming since 1889, when they wandered off to Montana, Idaho and Washington.
Bringing light to the small, seemingly insignificant moments in the lives of my subjects ensures that they exist far beyond the ephemeral and transitory. Working in a wet on dry technique with oil, using dry brushing; portraying texture is a major component. I utilize light, contrast, and detail to create paintings that appear three dimensional.
This is my last Small Works show at the Brinton Museum, I have been honored to be a part of these shows many times. Art life in retirement has no deadlines except the final one, and I look forward to the challenge.
