2022 Summer Art Camp

Learn about the classic technique of making a relief printing plate.  During this workshop each person will draw with white pencil onto the soft linoleum to create their unique artwork.  The plate is then carved, inked, and printed with a press to yield a set of prints.  The handling and use of carving tools, inks, and printing press is detailed as part of the instruction process.

Jim Jereb is from Laramie (WY) and is a master printmaker. He has been represented in numerous exhibitions including all of The Brinton Museum’s annual small works shows, and was a featured artist in the Northern Trust Gallery.

Creating handmade paper will provide participants with exciting hands-on possibilities to work with recycled paper and organic materials. We will explore opportunities to incorporate the handmade paper into unique creative acrylic landscape paintings and original screen prints. Please join us and be creative!

Paul Waldum teaches in the Honors College and the College of Education at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. He has also taught over 30 years of K-12 public art education in Wyoming. His art appears in numerous museums and galleries throughout the west. He regularly exhibits at The Brinton Museum.

En plein air painting is a French phrase that means “in the open air”. A simple viewfinder is used to find a balanced and interesting composition outside on the grounds of The Brinton Museum. We will then sketch the scene and create a painting with acrylic paint on canvas. Color, line, shape, balance, space, depth and unity are some of the principles of art that we will be working with.

Jim Jurosek is from Sheridan, WY. Jim taught art at Big Horn Elementary School for 14 years. He likes to paint.
