Esteban Diaz Mathé was born in Buenos Aires in 1981. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and worked in Human Resources. Esteban began to draw and paint for the first time only 4 years ago, after having started his second career architecture. As a self-taught artist, he dedicated the first two years to emulating great masters of painting, such as Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and Sorolla, using oil, feather, and charcoal. Now creating his own work, Esteban is completely dedicated to painting. His work embraces the cultural, abounding in contemporary motifs captured through ancient techniques, typical of the great masters of realism.
He strives to uphold the rustic authenticities of Argentine culture. In this sense, he has been visiting large estancias located in a dozen provinces, for about three years. Documenting, investigating and sharing the people’s daily work, Diaz Mathé tries to capture, through his painting, the deepest essence of the national being.
