Paulette Kucera has been interested in art since childhood.  In school, art was always her favorite subject.  Over the years she worked as a draftsman and a technical illustrator. After moving to Sheridan in 1983, Paulette worked in a print shop and took art classes at Sheridan College. She has an Associate Degree in Technical Illustration and an Associate of Art from Sheridan College.

Light shining through colored glass inspired her to learn how to build traditional stained glass panels and in 1990, she became a full time glass artist specializing in commission art glass. Many panels have crossed her work bench over the past 25 years and during that time, she was introduced to warm glass -a technique where glass is heated in a kiln to fuse it together and/ or change its shape. Now, most of Paulette’s glasswork is created in a kiln.

Paulette has been painting with watercolor for 20 some years and, through art classes at Sheridan College, learned to work with oils. For the last 3 years, she has had a lot of fun painting with the Little Goose Plein Air Painters.

“Glass and painting have many similarities – both depend on light to be successful, both rely on thoughtful design, both are time intensive and both are rewarding when a vision comes together.
