Kathy Wipfler

Kathy Wipfler headshotOriginally from rural central California, Kathy Wipfler moved to Jackson, Wyoming in 1980 to learn to paint en plein air. With help from mentors including Conrad Schweiring, John Clymer,Greg McHuron, Hollis Williford, and Milo “Skip” Whitcomb, her 36 years of painting the landscape in all weather conditions has seasoned her view of the natural world, and the purpose of laying a brush on the canvas.

Wipfler has spent countless hours riding with the “real deal” cowboys of Wyoming, and patiently watching the abundant wildlife of the area.

Her work is included in many collections, most notably the Whitney Gallery of Western Art at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming, and the permanent collection of the National Museum of Wildlife art, Jackson, Wy.

Wipfler’s drawing titled “Bruin Trio” was awarded the prestigious Bob Kuhn Award at the 2015 Western Visions Show at the National Museum of Wildlife Art.
