The Spiritual Nature of Earth, Hide and Metal is a collaboration between four talented artists who are each highly-regarded as masters of their craft.

An Artists’ Reception with featured artists Jody Folwell, Susan Folwell, Jhon Duane Goes In Center and James F. Jackson will be held on Friday, May 17 from 5p.m. to 7p.m.

Jody Folwell of Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico, a Native American potter, is considered one of the best-known avant-garde Pueblo potters. Her daughter, Susan Folwell, also works in native clay. Inspired by traditional designs, Susan is constantly experimenting with various techniques and modern forms. Internationally-known leatherworker James F. Jackson of Sheridan is a resident artist of The Brinton. Jhon Goes In Center of the Oglala Lakota Nation is considered one of the early silversmiths in the transitional modern era of Lakota metal work. These four artists worked harmoniously together to create pieces reflective of the spiritual nature of the three mediums (earth, hide and metal), embracing a shared value with nature and art.

Putting A Voice to the Work, a one-day symposium presented by the artists, will be held on Saturday, May 11 at The Brinton Museum. Registration will be available online.
