“From close-range study to feeling small in a large environment my artwork begins as a response to some observed scene or other visual qualities. While the techniques of printmaking often do not lend themselves to on-site, direct observation artmaking I find this challenge gives focus to the creative process. This, in turn, helps to complete my imagery, both in and outside of the studio.
Jim Jereb
On-site sketches and notes refined through studio techniques establish the printmaking artwork of Jim Jereb. Crisp shapes complement delicately subtle color and tones: Jereb’s work composes a symbolic range of people and animals that engage the viewer’s eye and mind.
In addition to his own creative work, Jereb is a well-known master printer, helping other artists develop their own fine, hand-crafted prints.
