Discover a hidden Wyoming gem, survey wildlife, and have a blast! The Wyoming BioBlitz is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for families, students, and all nature-lovers. July 23-24, 2021 at the Brinton Museum.
A BioBlitz is a 24 hour period in which the public teams up with biologists to search for and document as many plants, animals and insects as they can find within a certain location. In addition to contributing to science, the BioBlitz provides a hands-on opportunity to learn from experts. Participants will meet local scientists and learn how they study their subjects. Teachers will also receive two Professional Standards Teaching Board (PTSB) credits for participating. Participants need no experience to participate in surveys, which will include birds, amphibians, plants, and more.
In addition to searching for and tracking organisms, the BioBlitz offers a strong educational component. People of all ages learn how local scientists conduct their research and gain an understanding of their subjects. Biologists leading the activity (such as bird mist-netting or amphibian catching) describe the natural history, life cycle, identification and other fun facts about plants and animals they find. The event is highly hands-on with a diversity of activities and topics.

The event is organized by the University of Wyoming Biodiversity Institute, Audubon Rockies, Wyoming State Parks, The Nature Conservancy in Wyoming, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
