Photo of Heather Burton painting in the rainI am in awe of the beauty of the world and those living in it. Connecting to nature and capturing the moments that inspire me are what I strive to share in my paintings. Whether a landscape, still life, figure or animal I want to express the emotional response stirred in me, hopefully evoking a personal response in the viewer.

I received my BFA in Design from Syracuse University and MFA in painting and illustration from the Academy of Art University. In 2014 after living in New York, North Carolina, California, and Hawaii, I met my husband, a Colorado artist and moved with him to Northern Colorado. I love being where beautiful landscapes, horses and wildlife are abundant sources of inspiration. Focusing my work on my love of horses, animals and the outdoors, working alongside my husband and watching my two beautiful children grow are constant sources of inspiration.

There is no better place to spend the day than on horseback, adventuring with my family or in my studio.” Heather Burton
