Echoes of Ornamentation: Wyoming Baroque & Jim Jackson
Experience an evening exploring ornamentation and embellishment through both visual art and music.
Echoes of Ornamentation brings together artist Jim Jackson and Dr. Mark Elliot Bergman, Music Director of Wyoming Baroque, for a program inspired by the exhibition James F. Jackson: Legacy in Art and Leather. The evening will focus on Jackson’s lifelong engagement with leather tooling, ornament, and embellishment—core elements that define both his craftsmanship and artistic voice.
Jackson will speak about the history, structure, and expressive possibilities of ornament in Western leatherwork, accompanied by projected images of selected works. Dr. Bergman will offer insight into ornamentation within the Baroque musical tradition, exploring how embellishment functions structurally and emotionally in early music.
The program culminates in a live performance by the Wyoming Baroque ensemble, creating a dialogue between visual and musical traditions and highlighting shared principles of pattern, rhythm, and expressive detail.
