During her two-week residency program at The Brinton Museum, Gabrielle was struck by her feeling of nostalgia for Wyoming, where she grew up, and where she continues to have deep connections. Her artwork often reflects dramatic shifts in environments, on location painting and drawing, how we affect the world around us, and how we are transformed by our surroundings.  In the work following her residency, she has begun to combine her personal memories of Istanbul with life in the Western United States. Interwoven with these ideas is an interest in the past, mostly portrayed through architectural forms and memories of childhood and early adult life in Wyoming.  The reflective time of exploration through painting and drawing in the Sheridan area during her residency is the oasis for her new work.
