The painting that I do is not meant to be realistic. It is abstract and expressive.  I look at painting as an ongoing experiment, constantly trying new compositions, color combinations, ways of applying the paint, and subject matter.  This series of paintings that i have been working on, called “The Woods”, comes from being in the Big Horn Mountains a lot over the years, hiking, camping, exploring and just being in the mountains and trails in the forest.  I still think that young children are the best painters.  They tend to be fearless and without hesitation and doubt.  I would like to be able to paint like them.  I am trying to be more carefree in my work.
