2024 Small Works Show artist Jon Madsen

Growing up and living in Wyoming has been a good place for me to see the  vastness of the world, it’s beauty and my smallness in it.
The work here….light, life and poetry, held in watercolor: not too tightly.

I was born in Kansas, grew up in Wyoming and made friends with the wind and open spaces. I attended college at the University of Wyoming BFA/MFA 1973 majoring in Art.  I then had a 25-year job in computers to support a family and my “painting habit”. Then from 1998 – 2007, I taught beginning Drawing and Watercolor classes, full time for the University of Wyoming Art Department. I am now retired and have a studio in Laramie.
