Bighorn Rendezvous Art Exhibit

Chula Beauregard (Steamboat Springs, CO)

Chula Beauregard is an award-winning painter who was born and raised in the mountains of Colorado; her work bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary artistic styles. She is the recipient of numerous awards and has exhibited extensively in the region. Chula was a featured artist in The Brinton’s Artist In Residence exhibit in September 2020.

Bye Bitney  (Somers, MT)

A Montana native, Bye Bitney is a self-taught artist and has been painting professionally for 38 years. He is a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group of Artists and has exhibited in three of their featured shows presented at The Brinton.

Jake Gaedtke  (Bozeman, MT)

Jake Gaedtke is a founding member and presently the President of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters. He is also a member of the Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionists Society. His work is in private and public collections throughout the United States and Europe and was represented in The Brinton’s 101 small works show this past year.

Carol Guzman  (Bozeman, MT)

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Guzman’s art subjects range from wildlife, still life, landscapes, florals and objects of interest including Native American artifacts to antique toys. She lived, worked and studied in New York City and the Hudson Valley area for 13 years where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Art and Art History. Carol lives in Montana with award-winning artist Clyde Aspevig.

Jim Jackson  (Sheridan, WY)

The Brinton’s resident leather artist, Jackson is the well-deserved recipient of prestigious awards both here and abroad. Most notably, he is a 2019 National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship Award recipient, the highest honor given by the NEA, and is also a 2019 Wyoming Governor’s Arts Award recipient. Jackson learned the art of saddlemaking from his father, Edward Jackson, and other well-known saddlemakers of the area. Jim received an MFA in painting from the University of Wyoming and has participated in numerous shows at The Brinton Museum.

T. D. Kelsey  (Cody, WY)

A man of many talents, award-winning artist T.D. Kelsey grew up on a ranch in Montana and rodeoed for many years. He also worked as a commercial pilot for United Airlines until he resigned in 1979 to pursue his art full-time. His work is represented in museums and private collections throughout the U.S, including the Gilcrease Museum; Charles M. Russell Museum in Great Falls; Owensboro Museum; the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, and more. He has monuments in both public and private locations. T. D. is a member of the Cowboy Artists of America since 2004 and is a Fellow of the National Sculpture Society.

Julie Oriet  (Cody, WY)

Julie grew up in rural Montana and is inspired by the beautiful scenery and wildlife of the magnificent West. She has participated in numerous shows, nationally, and is represented in private and corporate collections around the world. Oriet has work in the collections of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and The Brinton Museum. Julie is an accomplished artist in the mediums of both pastel and oil and has participated in The Brinton Museum’s small works shows.

Gregory Packard  (Montrose, CO)

Award-winning artist Greg Packard is a longtime friend of The Brinton. His featured show, “The Light Still Sheds The Dark”, was the inaugural exhibition in the Jacomien Mars Reception Gallery in 2015. Most recently, Packard was awarded Brinton Best of Show for his painting “Winter Flush” on display in the Artists In Residence show in 2020.

Jordyn Payne  (Meeteetse, WY)

Jordyn has always had a love of the great outdoors, particularly fly fishing, which continues as a major inspiration in her work. Among her subjects are the beautiful red rocks of Utah, the deserts of New Mexico, the magnificent peaks of the Tetons and the forests of Yellowstone. She is the recipient of the 2014 Gilly Fales Fine Art Award at the Buffalo Bill Art Sale & Auction.

John Potter  (Red Lodge, MT)

Award-winning artist John Potter is nationally known for his realistic paintings of wildlife and landscapes. He has participated in numerous exhibits at The Brinton including the Northwest Rendezvous Group of Artists Bighorn Rendezvous shows, The Brinton 101 small works shows, The Brinton’s 2017 Illustrator Show and the museum’s first Artist In Residence exhibit in 2019. His love of the outdoors is the driving force which inspires his art.

Chessney Sevier  (Buffalo, WY)

Inspired by rural life, Chessney considers herself a contemporary Western artist who creates works that are true to herself. She has taken top honors in printmaking at both the nationally acclaimed Santa Fe Indian Market Show and the Heard Museum Guild Indian Market numerous times, and also creates small-scale paintings.

Kathryn Mapes Turner  (Jackson, WY)

A recent Brinton Museum Artist In Residence participant, Turner resides in Jackson, Wyoming, where she was born as the fourth generation to be raised on the Triangle X Ranch in Grand Teton National Park. Turner is nationally recognized for her art and has been showcased in exhibits at numerous prestigious venues including the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson; the Charles Russell Museum in Great Falls; Buffalo Bill Center of the West; Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum and The Brinton Museum.
