Paul Waldum, a native of Livingston, Montana, developed an appreciation for nature as a boy while hiking and climbing mountains near his hometown. The memories of those adventures left lasting sketches in his mind. Waldum has exhibited at The Brinton Museum; the Yellowstone Art Museum Invitational, Billings, MT; the Nicolaysen Art Museum, Casper, WY; and the C.M. Russell Museum, Great Falls, MT.  He received the Wells Fargo Gold Award at the 2012 Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale, Cody, WY. In 2018, he was featured in a one-person show of his pastels at The Brinton Museum. In 2018, Paul donated a 60″ x 96″ oil painting of the Missouri River for the new Norm Asbjornson Hall at Montana State University. He is a professor in the Honors College at Montana State University. In 2021, he won the prestigious Spirit of Discovery Award through the Honors College. Paul and his wife live in Livingston, Montana.
