Well-known by museums and world class collectors, Clyde Aspevig is highly-regarded as an accomplished American painter who uses vibrant color to depict spectacular Western landscapes. His exemplary talent to capture magnificent scenes in oil goes beyond that of mere representation; his superb paintings possess a special ability to draw the viewer into a given moment in time and place. Aspevig is the recipient of numerous awards going back to the 1980s, including more recently the 1997 Prix de West Invitational Award, National Cowboy Hall of Fame; the prestigious 2006 Autry National Center John J. Geraghty Award; and the 2013 Edgar Payne Award for Best Landscape at the 102nd California Art Gold Medal Show, USC Fisher Museum of Art in Los Angeles, California. As an artist who grew up on a ranch in Montana, his paintings evoke a sense of passion about the land that tugs at an emotional sensibility in all of us.
