March 2 - May 12
Dean States (American, b. 1936) is highly-regarded as a master artist working in the medium of colored pencil. His large scale drawings of landscapes, wildlife and kimonos are magnificently illustrated in vibrant color and complex detail. In contrast, Dean also creates images of tranquil green pastures, rolling hills and trees in a meadow with a subtleness that begs the eye to contemplate on the simple beauty of nature. Dean is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of Artists. One Person’s Vision comprises more than forty-five of the artist’s work representing pieces from earlier in States’ career to recent drawings.
This show is presented in the S. K. Johnston, Jr. Family Gallery, the 2nd floor exhibit hallway and the 1st floor Northern Trust Gallery beginning March 2. A reception to honor the artist takes place on March 1.
This exhibition is made possible through funding from the Edwin T. Meredith Foundation, The Tucker Foundation, and Wyoming Arts Council.
