March 9 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Brinton Members join us for “Star Quilts as a Native American Symbol” that will be presented by Kim Taylor, the Registrar at The Brinton Museum. Using her Master thesis research with Sioux and Assiniboine quilters in Fort Peck Reservation, Kim will discuss the importance of stars in traditional stories and used as motifs in historic artistic designs. Learn how star quilts turn into a veritable industry across the Northern Plains and become prominent items in traditional giveaway ceremonies.
1 hour Meet-up with Q&A in the S.K. Johnston Gallery.
